Dereliction on the domestic front.

It's all very well galivanting mid-week but I should have caught myself on to the state of the fridge. Last weekend it seemed to working ok so I put food in it. When, at the end of the week, I came to looking for food it was in lumps:

That which thaws will be eaten later.

A much more urban week.

Two nights of alcohol and live music. Two nights of arriving back barely in time for the chickens. That doesn't lend itself to photography so here's a video summarising life at the moment:

Another gentle equestrian excursion.

I like this picture, taken on the Lakeshore in Toronto, en route to watch the show jumping at the Royal Winter Fair. I like it because it's November and still weather to have the top down, and because, if you're going to have to drink from a JD mug, it may as well be cognac as beer.

On the way to the feedmill

it's quite usual to see pick up trucks jacked up to the skies with redneck slogans on them. It's not so common to see old Porsches tricked out with machine guns and Batmobile signage.

I don't think I'd get in that, bad enough things happen in Beetles.

And that was when it ended.

The decision to get on and dispose of the animals wasn't about them at all, it was incidental to real life. My Irish friend wanted to go home for Christmas. I thought it about time I went home for Christmas. And so we decided to go, together but to different destinations, grabbing a little time for ourselves en route. Such a scheme felt normal for me, I've been lots of places often at short notice and usually without much in the way of a plan. One might say that going to far off places without much of a plan was what got me where I am today.

That sort of thing doesn't sit well with chickens and horses and the like and so today I'm setting seriously about decluttering. There'll be a flyer at the feed mill later and an entry on Craig's List. Once the animals are gone there'll be no need to live in the country though, somewhat ironically, I expect to go back to riding frequently.

Not very good pictures,

but an alarming sight, a truckload of Christmas trees first thing this morning. These were taken on a fairly major road for out here, it has a proper surface and a line painted on it.

I am so not ready for Christmas. I'm never ready for Christmas.

A trivial but pleasing development today was reclaiming the "zip list", the film subscription facility, I deleted requests for a hundred or so gay themed films and ordered a bunch of Irish and vampire discs. And that, I suppose, represents moving on to something or other.

Servane,

That's far and away today's best pie joke, if only more people could catch themselves on.

You might be surprised what I can put in my mouth should the occasion demand. Random articles from the larder:
